Cheddar Jalapeño Buns

Salty and spicy, these buns are a delicious savory snack or side

Good luck sticking to just one, these buns are so delicious, particularly fresh out of the oven. I love them as a savory afternoon snack or as a side to a mexican dinner. Use a good quality sharp vintage cheddar to pack a punch of flavour.

Ingredients

You will need:

  • 2 cups gluten free self-raising flour

  • 1 1/2 cups high protein greek yogurt

  • 1.5 teaspoons baking soda

  • 50g sliced jalapeños

  • 90g grated vintage cheddar cheese

  • Salt flakes

Method

  1. Preheat an oven to 180 degrees fan forced

  2. In a large bowl, with a spoon, mix together the flour, baking soda and yogurt until just combined

  3. Add in the grated cheese and jalapeños

  4. Sprinkle in a generous amount of sea salt flakes

  5. Mix together until a dough is formed - you may need to add more flour or yogurt to get the right consistency

  6. Divide the mixture into 9 parts and shape the portions into round balls and place on a lined baking tray

  7. Sprinkle some salt flakes over the buns

  8. Bake for 35 minutes or until golden and crispy
